Workshop on Wind Turbine Condition Monitoring

Motivation

Wind energy, a clean and renewable energy source, has received considerable attention
around the world. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, global wind power installed
capacity had reached more than 318GW by the end of 2013. As a critical equipment for
wind energy development, the wind turbine is being widely used due to its technological
maturity and good infrastructure construction. However, with the high demand for energy
efficiency, the size of the wind turbine is increasing over the years, leading to high operation
costs and risk of failures. To avoid expensive maintenance costs and economic losses after

failure, condition monitoring of wind turbines has become a focused research trend.

Scope

This workshop is intended to cover but may not be limited to the following subjects for wind
turbine condition monitoring:
 Vibration monitoring
 Temperature monitoring
 Sound monitoring
 Oil debris monitoring
 Stress/Strain monitoring
 Current monitoring

 Other NDT&E technique
